Brief upon How & Why Miss Sabrina Paul (now known as Mrs Sabrina Ben Salmi) gave birth to T.M.S.M.P (The Mobile ingle Mothers Project) also known as T.M.S.P.P (The Mobile Single Parents Project)

"My experiences at the University of East London inspired me to become a mentor/outreach worker. Both myself and mentor Debra Stoute of HSBC were awarded the 'Mentee of The Year 2004-2005/Mentor of The Year 2004-2005' via National Mentoring Consortium "NMC" (which lead to me being featured within the education section within several nation wide news papers during the summer of 2005, this boosted my confidence and developed new aspirations). Wining this award inspired me to become a mentor, hence the birth of this project in the hope of giving something back to the community which I was raised".

"I was a volunteer for CSV (www.csv.org.uk). CSV is the UK's largest volunteering and training organisation. Each year CSV helps over one million people transform their lives."

"Previously I was awarded a community grant via Unltd (www.unltd.org.uk) a few years ago which supported my 'Interior Design Project' with the aid of my mother (Ms Mary Paul)"

I hope to finally identify face value experiences with single parents. I hope to gain a life changing experience as I have never been evolved in something like this before and I am passionate about my project, I have faith that success will come of those who take part in my project

Via word of mouth I have come to learn that it is hard to acquire centralized support/information as a single parent for example how to approach from the likes of: British Library, ELBA, Working Links, Prevista, CIDA, local MP, European Social Fund to obtain business start up support and financial grants etc. I simply want to empower single parents to improve their future to enable them to lay their primary foundation for a brighter future for their children with God's grace.

"My philosophy is one which believes that if we take care of tomorrow's seeds (our children, up and coming doctors, solicitors etc) today we have the hope that things will improve tomorrow".

I have the passion to achieve and continue to walk through the storm to reach my goals in life. I experienced a burglary and was admitted to hospital for DVT during the 2nd year of my HND whilst pregnant and gave birth while at university and managed to qualify. I was registered homeless and I have moved several times as I was registered homeless, childhood illiness almost costing my life, been made to feel unworthy, domestic voilance, experienced harassment from neighbours and as a result of being pressured into private accommodation self funded so on and so forth. Consequently I know what it is like to reach out for support which is almost impossible to acquire. I hope that together with the aid of my project we will prevail.

I was raised within a lone parent family, i was extremely ill throughout my childhood and my mother was told upon two occasions that I would not live to see the next morning and at the time family members were called to pay their final respects and I received an emergency blessing from a Priest.

I am fortunate to still be alive; my mother was told that she may have to care for a child with brain damage. My mother did not give up on me! I was left to recover with a tracheotomy, ventilator dependant nebulised treatment.

I discovered that I was dyslexic during my studies at university which which is linked to a lack of oxygen to my brain during my childhood illinesses. I came to know my father at the age of 9, which was a very difficult experience for me.

I strongly feel that society ought to respect single parents as their work is twice as hard and encourage fathers/mothers who live separate from their children to play an active role within their children(s) lives. Therefore the project was set up in order to give the community the support which both I and my mother would have benefited from.

"The Mobile Single Mothers Project also known as The Mobile Single Parents Project is dedicated to my mother Mary Paul. My mothers dream is to become a recognised furniture design, my aim is to aid her achieve that dream”. On the right is a glass chair designed by my mother! This piece is called Ammie after my great grand-mother. Most designs are made of glass, wood, metal i.e.: Aquarium dining table, sculptures, high back chairs (similar to mackintosh) etc.
